Recovery for a High Rise Hotel

ServiceMaster-Myrtle-Beach-Water-Damage-Restoration7

What

In January 2023, things started out exciting for ServiceMaster by Glenn’s first responder team. A 14 story hotel/timeshare in Myrtle Beach suffered major water damage after a plumbing line split on the 12th floor. The plumbing failure happened in the middle of the night and went undetected until morning. The resulting water damage affected over 100 units beneath the 12th floor.

The hotel had recently completed high-end remodeling to convert the suites into timeshares. ServiceMaster was called in by a large loss adjuster who knew ServiceMaster by Glenn’s would be a perfect fit for this project. Once we received the call, ServiceMaster crews were immediately dispatched and were there to assist with cleaning up the damage within hours.

Job Scope

  • We immediately assessed with thermography equipment and moisture meters, targeted water removal, and began setting up air movers and dehumidifiers in each affected suite.
  • ServiceMaster monitored the initial moisture content, the progress of drying, and the final moisture content throughout the project.
  • Commercial drying equipment was set up to reduce humidity and prevent secondary mold damage on all surfaces.
  • Drywall, ceilings and floors were the priorities. Some drywall areas had to be cut out to prevent mold damage.
  • In all, 90% of all affected materials were salvaged due to ServiceMaster’s drying process and quick action, saving thousands in repairs and material costs.
  • ServiceMaster by Glenn’s successfully completed clean up and drying services in a timely manner, while overseeing demolition to some of the drywall by the hotel’s contractor.
  • The full scope of repairs will be completed by Spring Break, allowing the hotel to reopen for its busiest season.
