Reconstruction FAQs

Because every project involves multiple variables, it’s difficult to give an exact timeline. Your ServiceMaster Restore Project Manager will review the phases of reconstruction and provide an estimated completion date.

Pre-loss condition refers to restoring your home or business to how it was before the damage occurred, using materials of like kind and quality. Existing damage not related to your loss is excluded from the scope. At your request, we can provide estimates for additional renovation projects, known as non-insured work.

Non-insured work refers to any renovation unrelated to your loss. We can provide a separate estimate and will require separate authorization and payment. If this work could delay insured repairs, it must be discussed with your Insurance Adjuster and Project Manager.

When necessary, your Project Manager will obtain the appropriate permit(s) on your behalf, listing ServiceMaster Restore as the general contractor. Permit fees are included in the estimate and may be covered by insurance.

A code upgrade occurs when your home no longer meets current building codes. Your insurance may cover some of these upgrades. Questions should be directed to your Insurance Adjuster.

No. We will accommodate your daily routine. For site access, you may provide a key to your Project Manager or use a lockbox on the property.

Depending on the work scope, contents may remain on-site. We take steps to cover and protect your items. Post-construction cleaning addresses any dust or debris.

Carpet may not be salvageable due to delamination, loss of adhesion, permanent stains, or contamination. Your Project Manager will advise on whether it can be restored or must be replaced.

Salvageable rugs are taken to our warehouse for careful drying and cleaning to prevent color bleeding or damage, then returned to you.

As the property owner, you are responsible for payment and must authorize the work. For insurance claims, we typically collect only the deductible and bill the balance to your insurer. If no claim is filed or coverage is denied, full payment is due at the time of service.
