Water Damage FAQs
How long will it take for my property to dry?
Drying time depends on several factors such as water source, duration, affected areas, building materials, weather conditions, and how quickly emergency services begin. Ongoing monitoring allows us to determine when the drying process is fully complete.
How can I tell when my property is fully dry?
The most accurate way is through professional testing using specialized equipment. Touching surfaces alone can give false results.
My wood floors are wet and buckling. Will they need replacement?
Wood floors are evaluated during the drying process. We use specialized drying systems and dehumidifiers to help floors dry efficiently and return to their original shape. Because of hardwood density and finishes, drying may take three weeks or longer.
What about my wet furniture?
Whether furniture can be restored depends on its construction and level of damage. Items must be dried before proper evaluation. Non-salvageable pieces will be documented, and a customer release form is required for disposal.
Should I open the windows to speed up drying?
Opening windows is not always recommended. Outdoor conditions vary, so our technician will decide when outside air is suitable.
Do I need to move out during the restoration process?
If an insurance claim is filed, your adjuster may offer guidance, but the decision is yours. Safety is critical. Our equipment is child-safe but requires supervision. Air movers and dehumidifiers create noise and drafts, and if disruptive, temporary relocation may be considered.
Does everything need to be removed during restoration?
Usually not. If items must be moved, we’ll notify you in advance and explain our inventory and pack-out process.
What happens to my area rugs?
Rugs are transported to our warehouse for specialized care. They are dried carefully to prevent color bleeding or discoloration, then cleaned and returned.
Why are air movers and dehumidifiers necessary?
Water can soak into drywall, baseboards, and subfloors. High-velocity air movers help release trapped moisture, while dehumidifiers remove excess humidity. Do not turn off or move equipment without contacting our team.
Why does my specialty flooring need to be removed?
Non-porous flooring can trap moisture underneath, preventing proper drying and increasing the risk of further damage.
